About Hugh
I am from Barbados, where I have lived most of my life.
I did my undergraduate degree at the University of Technology, Jamaica. In addition, I graduated with a Master of Architecture (M.Arch) degree from Florida A&M University.
In addition to graduating with a 4.0 GPA (Grade Point Average) in my architectural master’s degree programme, I received several awards. These include the following:
- American Institute of Architects (AIA) Florida Bronze Medal,
- Architectural Research Center Consortium (ARCC) King Research Award
- AIA Henry Adams M.Arch Medal
- Thesis Studio Award
With over eighteen years of professional experience in Barbados and the USA, I am a driven designer, passionate about architecture. What I find fascinating is the architecture that responds to the climate, context and culture of the place and its people.
I have been an introvert and reticent all my life. However, I want to share my thoughts, experiences and journey online.
In addition to this site, I have a blog called Architropics. It talks about design ideas and inspiration for homes in tropical regions.
Feel free to reach out to me. I would love to hear from you.
If you would like to share in my journey, feel free to follow along.
